ANTIFA Rioters Arrested – Atlanta’s Not Portland

ANTIFA Rioters Arrested – Atlanta’s Not Portland

Following the killing of environmental activist Manuel Esteban Paez Teran, 26, who was shot by police in Atlanta, Georgia, Atlanta Police officers had to deal with a night of ANTIFA rioters smashing windows and setting cars on fire.

Teran is alleged to have shot at police officers while defending a forest from “Cop City,” which is a police training center near Atlanta. Members of his environmental conservation community are alleging that the Atlanta police officer suffered a gunshot from friendly fire, and Teran had not fired a shot. However, there is no indication that an officer was shot by friendly fire at this time.

Following a police officer getting shot in the abdomen, Teran was believed to have fired the shot at the police officer. Teran would be shot and killed by a police officer, and his death created a wave of protests throughout a handful of cities, most notably in Atlanta, where seven rioters would go on to be arrested.

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said Saturday evening:

“Atlanta is safe and our police officers have resolved the disruptions downtown from earlier in the evening,”  adding, “The City of Atlanta and the Atlanta Police Department will continue to protect the right to peaceful protest. We will not tolerate violence or property destruction.”

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens would announce that some of the ANTIFA domestic terrorists also were carrying explosives.

Violent Antifa Riot in Atlanta Manned by Out-of-State Invaders

  • A violent riot by Antifa rocked the downtown of Atlanta, Georgia over the weekend. It was also manned by out-of-state communists, the local police discovered after identifying the ones they had managed to arrest.

    Typical Antifa ‘Peaceful Protest’

Dozens of businesses had their windows and glass doors smashed in downtown Atlanta on Saturday. At the same time, a police car was set on fire.

The rally had been called after, last week, during a sweep in an Antifa-occupied “no-go” zone in DeKalb County, the Atlanta police shot and killed 26-year-old far-left activist Manuel Teran.

Teran or another of the America-hating occupiers shot at the police and wounded a state trooper. He survived but had to be hospitalized and undergo surgery.

Teran’s nickname was Tortuguita. He was a “non-binary” individual who used made-up “they/it” pronouns.

A forested area in DeKalb County, which has been set aside for the construction of a police and firefighting training center, has been occupied by woke activists for many months now, who call it “cop city.”

As masked, black-clad Antifa thugs descended upon downtown Atlanta on Saturday night, they started lighting fireworks and throwing rocks.

LISTEN: GPB's All Things Considered host Peter Biello speaks with political reporter Stephen Fowler about the results of Georgia's 2022 midterm elections and how they will impact politics in 2023 and beyond.
Governor Brian Kemp and Senator Raphael Warnock
In case you’ve missed the last few years of news, Georgia is now a premier political battleground state with elections that have drastically influenced the trajectory of American politics — including the most recent 2022 midterms.
Republican Gov. Brian Kemp beat Democratic rival Stacey Abrams in the governor’s race by more than seven percentage points, harnessing the state’s strong economic footing and his early rollback of COVID restrictions into a powerful campaign message that convinced both hardcore conservatives and moderate swing voters to reward his incumbency over Abrams’ ambitious visions for a more progressive Georgia.
Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock survived his fifth election in two years to earn a full six-year term in the U.S. Senate in an abbreviated runoff against Trump-backed Herschel Walker, a former athletic standout who was marred in constant scandal and struggled to articulate what policies he would seek in Washington.
After Warnock and fellow Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff provided the crucial majority-making votes in 2021 runoffs, Warnock’s victory ensured outright Democratic control of the chamber with 51 seats, even as Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona shifted her party affiliation to be an independent who will still likely vote with Democrats.

    What to Know

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the NC State Wolfpack will face off in an ACC clash at 7 p.m. ET Jan. 17 at McCamish Pavilion. NC State should still be riding high after a victory, while the Yellow Jackets will be looking to get back in the win column.

The contest between Georgia Tech and the Pittsburgh Panthers this past Saturday was not a total blowout, but with Georgia Tech falling 71-60 at home, it was darn close to turning into one. One thing holding Georgia Tech back was the mediocre play of guard Miles Kelly, who did not have his best game: he finished with only six points on 2-for-10 shooting in his 27 minutes on the court.

Meanwhile, it was a close one, but this past Saturday NC State sidestepped the Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes for an 83-81 win. The Wolfpack relied on the efforts of forward Ernest Ross, who had 17 points in addition to nine boards, and forward DJ Burns, who had 13 points and seven assists along with nine rebounds. Ross hadn’t helped his team much against the Virginia Tech Hokies two weeks ago, so this was a nice turnaround for him. Ross’ points were the most he has had all season.

FDA should OK easier access to drug that reverses overdoses

Category:
  • Endnotes
  • The federal government appears to be on the verge of doing something right for a change—shocking, I know.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is mulling a proposal [1] to make certain naloxone products, which reverse drug overdoses, available over-the-counter.

The FDA generally doesn’t take such actions lightly—and in fact has a reputation for its long delays. Yet in this case, there’s room for cautious optimism. The agency might do the right thing—easing the opioid epidemic in Georgia and across the country in the process.

In 2020, there were over 68,000 opioid overdose-related deaths [2] in America—over 1,300 of which [3] happened in the Peach State. That number accounts for two thirds of Georgia’s overdose deaths, and trend lines show that the opioid epidemic will likely only get worse in the near future.

“Opioid-involved overdose deaths have been rapidly increasing in Georgia since 2010, driven largely by increased use and misuse of prescription opioids (e.g., Oxycodone and Hydrocodone),” wrote the Georgia Department of Public Health [4]. “Beginning in 2013, illicit opioids such as heroin and fentanyl drove the sharp increase in opioid-involved overdose deaths.” Put simply, the opioid epidemic is very real and has sadly touched myriad families.

Faced with mounting deaths, many public health professionals increasingly looked to naloxone to reverse opioid overdoses. First approved in 1971 [5], naloxone is now available in injectable and nasal spray forms, and it combats overdoses by restoring normal breathing. It works remarkably fast too—sometimes within 2-3 minutes [6]—and essentially poses no threat [7] to people who haven’t ingested opioids.

DeKalb County homeowners concerned property is getting damaged from neighboring construction site – WSB-TV Channel 2

Ellenwood residents said it’s a cacophony of noises, constantly coming from an expanding tractor-trailer and dump truck parking lot.

“I initially saw a lot of clearing of trees then then I saw the development of what appeared to be a parking lot for 18 wheelers,” said Ericka Watkins.

Westside Place home owners told Channel 2′s Ashli Lincoln they noticed what they’re describing as abrasive construction work impacting their homes.

“It affected our daily living,” Alan Watkins said.

Residents said they were even more shocked to see land had been cleared for the truck parking lot under a section of a Georgia Power power grid.

Channel 2 Action News brought this to the attention of Georgia power.

FBI Raided Overseas Chinese Government Police Station in New York, Seized Materials: Report

FBI Raided Overseas Chinese Government Police Station in New York, Seized Materials: Report

FBI counterintelligence agents raided the New York office of an alleged overseas Chinese government police station sometime in fall 2022, The New York Times reported Thursday.

During the raid, federal authorities reportedly seized materials from the third-floor office of America Changle Association, a Manhattan Chinatown organization that claims to serve overseas Chinese, according to the report, which cites FBI agents who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The report comes several months after the Daily Caller News Foundation revealed in October that a March 2021 video conference between Changle and Chinese government officials had identified Lu Jianwang, Changle’s former chairman, as a “propagandist” and “special liaison officer” who worked with the United Front Work Department (UFWD).

The UFWD is a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agency that has engaged in “clandestine foreign intelligence work, propaganda and influence operations,” according to the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission.

FBI Raided Overseas Chinese Government Police Station in New York, Seized Materials: ReportThe overseas Chinese government police station allegedly stationed within Changle’s New York office is reportedly linked to an international Chinese police unit known as 110 Overseas, headquartered in Fuzhou in China’s Fujian province, according to a report from Safeguard Defenders, a human rights group which first revealed the existence of Beijing’s global police network in September.
